The oil pressure sensor signal is higher than the range the engine computer considers possible, so it cannot trust the oil pressure reading.
2Common causes
- Faulty oil pressure sensor
- Damaged wiring or connector (open circuit or short to voltage)
- Wrong oil viscosity or a blocked oil filter
- Genuine low oil pressure from a worn engine or failing oil pump
3Can I drive?
Do not rely on the oil-pressure reading. Stop the engine as soon as it is safe and have the car diagnosed before driving further: if oil pressure really is low, continuing can destroy the engine.
