The engine computer is not getting a valid signal from the engine oil pressure sensor or switch.
2Common causes
- Faulty oil pressure sensor or switch
- Low engine oil level
- Damaged wiring or connector
- Wrong oil viscosity or a blocked oil filter
- Genuine low oil pressure from a worn engine or failing oil pump
3Can I drive?
Do not drive with an oil-pressure warning. Stop the engine as soon as it is safe and check the oil level; if the warning stays on or the level is correct, have the car towed or diagnosed before driving. Driving with low oil pressure can destroy the engine.
