The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is loaded with soot beyond the normal range, so the exhaust is becoming restricted.
2Common causes
- Frequent short trips that prevent DPF regeneration
- Faulty DPF pressure sensor or wiring
- EGR fault or incorrect fuel mixture
- Worn injectors or excessive oil consumption
- DPF reaching the end of its life
3Can I drive?
Have it diagnosed before long drives. A restricted DPF can force the engine into limp mode or stall it, and repeated failed regenerations can dilute the engine oil. Avoid short trips until it is fixed.
