1What it means in plain English
The coolant temperature sensor signal is higher than the range the engine computer considers possible, so the computer may think the engine is hotter or colder than it is.
2Common causes
- Faulty coolant temperature sensor
- Air pocket in the cooling system
- Low coolant level
- Damaged wiring or connector
- Wrong sensor fitted

Watch the temperature gauge. If it climbs into the red or the engine overheats, stop safely and switch the engine off. Otherwise drive carefully to a workshop for diagnosis.
